Do I need previous fishing or diving experience?

• Commercial Dive Medical AS/NZ2299
• Diving Certificates: VET Rescue Statement of Attainment SISOSCB3064, Dive Master (or higher), or ADAS Commerial Diver

• CPR Certificate
• Apply Advanced Resuscitation
• Marine Boat Licence
What is the accommodation like onboard?
The accommodation on the FV Thor is shared and basic but functional. It's designed for safety and comfort during long trips, with space to rest, eat, and work. You'll live and sleep onboard with your crew, and the camaraderie built on these trips is what makes it special.
How often will I be at sea?
Our operations run seasonally from July to April, with 12–18 day trips at sea, depending on weather and mission needs. Between trips, you may have a layover period where the vessel returns to port for restocking, maintenance, and crew changeovers.
How does the 3-on, 1-off roster work?
Immersed Fisheries is the only company in the industry offering a 3-on, 1-off roster. This means you’ll spend three weeks at sea and then have one week off to relax, recharge, and spend time with family or travel. It's a schedule designed to support more of a work-life balance in the industry.
Do I need to provide my own gear?
For certain positions, like divers, you need to bring your own personal gear, but we provide most of the necessary equipment for the job. If you’re not sure what to bring, don’t worry—just ask us, and we’ll make sure you’re ready.
